BAYRAKLI BABA - GELİBOLU (Ece AYDIN, student)

 Hello friends, I wanted to share with you something that impressed me a lot while visiting Çanakkale. 

FATHER WİTH FLAG

 The Father with Flag,whose real name was Karacabey served in Ottoman Army forces as a flag carrier during the term of The Sultan Yıldırım Beyazıt. In 1402,he settled to Edirne as a commander. In a war in 1410,he was a flag carrier and when it happened an attack towards to him, he cut the flag in to pieces and swallowed the flag in order not to give the it to the enemy. After they war, others didn't believe him so Karacabey cleaved his stomach with his blade to show   

the pieces of flag he had swallowed before. When he was about to pass away, he told 'Long live my land. Let Turkish Flag  always wawe on my grave forever. Therefore, it has been a tradition the visitors to hang a flag all around his graveyard since then.
